Today I want to feature a noted place in Hakodate, the “Goryōkaku”!
The Goryōkaku is a western-style star-shaped fortress that was built by the Tokugawa shogunate during the late Edo period.
It has a beautiful star-shape like this.
Once you climb the tower...
...you’ll get a view of the Goryōkaku and Hakodate city!!
Inside the tower there are historical exhibits of Goryōkaku that kept me engaged✨
I visited in June, but you’ll be able to enjoy different sceneries per seasons. During spring, the area is pink with cherry blossoms, while during winter it is white with snow.
I’m definitely planning on going back during winter!
