Miyajima to Itsukushima-jinja Shrine

Store name: Yahata Hikino

Hello, this is Tsuruga, the store manager.

We're continuing on from the previous travel diary to Hiroshima.
I decided to go to the Itsukushima-jinja Shrine in Miyajima.
Although I’ve been to Hiroshima a number of times, Miyajima is a first.

Since it’s a remote island, we need to cross the sea using a ferry.
You can even see the Otorii (large gateway to a Shinto shrine) of the Itsukushima-jinja Shrine. Pretty exciting!

3

Upon arrival to the island, you’ll be greeted by a large herd of deer.
Keep in mind, though they are adorable, feeding them is strictly prohibited!

4

5

Once you go through the shopping district, we’re now ready to enter the Itsukushima-jinja Shrine, a world heritage site.

7

The tide had fallen back when we arrived so we were able to get close to the Otorii!

8

The Otorii at full tide is also a great view!
Since we stayed somewhere else and went to Miyajima, we should have found an inn right here!

We found a really good specialty store of hotdog buns in the shopping district, so keep an eye out for a feature next time.

That’s all folks!
